THE RULES OF LOOM & LIAR
UPDATED ON 10/03/25
GENERAL POLICIES
While using all services provided by Loom & Liar, all players and staff are expected to abide by the rules as written in their current form, as well as keep up to date with changes and edits as they’re made. Our rules are a living document, and changes will occur from time to time– with all changes being announced as they are made. At no time can naivety be used as an excuse for breaking rules.
All players and staff are expected to be respectful and uphold a level of behavior that holds no B.I.A.S. For this reason, you are not allowed to promote religion, political parties, propaganda, ideologies, hash tags, movements, organizations or companies through your interactions within the server or its services that disparages or discriminates against other players in any way.
BIAS
B.I.A.S. stands for Bigotry, Intolerance, Ableism, Sexism. It goes without saying, this is prohibited.
CONTACTING STAFF
Do not contact staff about server related issues via DMs. For any server related enquiries, use the ticket system. This is non-negotiable.
CONSENT
Themes of torture, scars, supernatural manipulation, or mutilation require consent to be given via /me ooc: “etc”
Example: /me ooc: Do you consent to a scene involving light scarring and torture?
ERP
Text ERP is not permitted within the server. Any ERP /me or written dialogue must be maintained within a private environment (discord DMs for example) outside of L&L.
PUBLIC NUDITY
As Loom & Liar is a community that encourages and supports streamers, we cannot allow public displays of nudity. While public, you must at bare minimum be in underwear covering all your bits!
AI POLICY
Loom & Liar has a zero tolerance policy toward use of AI of any kind. You may not use it anywhere on our server or platforms. This includes during whitelist apps, backstory writing, image creation, enhancement, or anywhere else.
AGE
This server is strictly 18+ and as such, all characters are required to be 18+.
DONATED/PURCHASED CONTENT AND ASSETS
Assets are defined as scripts, interiors, intellectual property, MLOs, ymaps, clothing, or any form of content.
If an asset is purchased or donated by yourself, or by others on your behalf for L&L, it is standard for that asset to remain in L&L until L&L determines that it is no longer needed. Once an asset has been purchased and/or donated to L&L, its integration will not be able to be retrieved.
If you have donated an asset to L&L and need to take an extended leave from the server, please create a ticket so that the team can facilitate a pause on any repossessions or reacquisitions of assets. The team will make every effort to place a hold on assets in the event of life getting in the way of enjoying L&L, however it is not possible to indefinitely place a hold on assets in the interest of the preservation of server resources.
COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP
L&L reserves the right to remove a member of the community if they do not uphold the community standards outlined throughout this document.
ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICIES
HACKING
Hacking, sabotaging or disrupting the server is strictly prohibited, with ramifications transcending the server.
HARASSMENT
The harassment of other players in L&L is not tolerated. Please respect the privacy, requests and comfortabilities of the people within the community.
BIAS PART 2
To stress the importance of understanding BIAS, we spell it out again.
BIAS stands for Bigotry, Intolerance, Ableism, Sexism.
BANNED THEMES
Banned themes include but are not limited to: Pregnancy, Sexual Assault, Self Harm, Slavery, Nazis, White Supremacy, Incest.
FIRESTARTING
Firestarting is intentionally causing OOC drama to disrupt the peace of the playerbase within Loom and Liar out of malice.
Examples of OOC Firestarting are as follows:
Spreading rumors or misinformation.
Manipulation of information with intent to mislead or misinform.
Introducing controversial topics in ways meant to inflame.
Using assumptions and incomplete information to incite dramatic responses from friends and allies.
COMMUNICATION POLICIES
OTHER SERVERS
Any discussion, promotion or badmouthing of other servers and communities is strictly prohibited. Please take this to your own private spaces.
DISCORD NAMES
Your Discord per-server profile must clearly display your character name without the use of fonts that would otherwise obscure your name. If you wish to flag your gang or group in your discord name, you may use different fonts for that name only. An example that would be acceptable is: “Billy Bob - Purple Gang”
LANGUAGE
English is the primary language of the server and must be spoken the majority of the time.
OTHER DISCORD SERVERS
In order to be considered an official gang/business/family/faction, with relevant integrations into a discord, staff must be present to oversee operations, like they do with Law, Doctors and DOJ. Please involve a staff member in the creation of a discord for the purpose of facilitating an in-game organization. Pre-existing servers are also applicable to this if you choose to use an existing server for a faction or business.
Discords for in-game organizations without Staff oversight are considered un-official and invalidates the approval of said organization.
HOW TO MAKE A TICKET
STEP 1: REMAIN IN CHARACTER
Witnessing a rulebreak can be frustrating, but it is imperative to remain IC and not to break immersion. Two wrongs do not make a right. Remain calm, stay IC, and document as needed via IDs and clips.
HOW/WHEN TO MAKE A REPORT
When making a player report please provide evidence of the incident, the player’s name in which you are reporting and in your own words the incident. Reports made out of ill-will are strictly forbidden and are considered unsportsmanlike.
Staff will not disclose any details of the actions taken after a report in the interest of sensitivity.
With some exception, we ask that all reports are made within 48 hours of the incident to allow us to best possible investigation.
EVIDENCE AND CLIPS
Recording is strongly advised on our server. For player reports, we may require Medal/OBS/VOD clips of at least (2) minutes to fully understand the context of a scene. Player reports made without clips make investigation into the issue very difficult, and without them we may be unable to assist.
If you do not have clips this would be considered a support ticket– as you are asking for admin support for evidence.
Screenshots that are used as evidence should not be cropped to withhold information, nor should they have discord names, dates, and times redacted. If you wish to use a screenshot of a conversation as evidence, we may ask to view full transcripts and screenshares in order to fully understand the context of a situation.
GETTING AN ID
You may use /showID to get a player ID. Getting ID’s is very helpful in rulebreak scenarios! You may not use an ID to meta someone for IC purposes, nor use this command to meta locations. You may not meta that an animal nor a local is anything other than what it appears via ID.
REPORTING A STAFF MEMBER
If you need to report a member of L&L staff, please make an owner ticket.
PUNISHMENT PROCESS
ESCALATION OF BANS
Within L&L, continuous rulebreaks will result in stricter punishment. With some exceptions for serious cases, rulebreaks follow the process below:
1st Offense: Warning
2nd Offense: (24) Hour Ban
3rd Offense: (1) Week Ban
4th Offense: Perma Ban
APPEALS PROCESS
Players who are permanently banned may appeal directly to the owners of L&L, and will be handled on a case by case basis.
HOW TO MAKE A CHARACTER
THE CLEAN SLATE
L&L is a new server and as such, drama (both IC and OOC) from other servers cannot be brought here. It is a fresh start with new characters, repeatedly bringing up prior counties is considered immersion breaking.
NAMING POLICY
Character, business, group, or gang names should be authentically yours. You may not use IRL names. Parody names should be respectful, and if found to break immersion may be asked to be renamed.
VOICE CHANGERS
Voice changers are allowed but cannot be overly synthetic or disruptive to the flow of RP scenes. Please ensure that when using a voice changer, that it has clarity and is not noisy to the point of unintelligibility.
ROLEPLAY EXPECTATIONS
LQRP / FAILRP
LQRP (Low Quality Roleplay) are actions that do not promote an experience of realism and story. Any action that breaks character or would not be found in real life that could lead to the degradation of serious roleplay.
STAYING IN CHARACTER
While in L&L you are expected to remain within character at all times.
/me ooc: can only be used for technical issues that are interfering with RP, or to gain consent for any theme that requires it. While talking in the city, you must stay in character.
Bad Example: /me ooc: lol I’m screaming haha
Bad Example: /me ooc: brb in my head
NVL (Not Valuing Life)
All players are required to act in accordance with the “human” instinct to preserve one’s life. Performing acts that would endanger your life on account of the fact that you “know the doctors will pick you up” are considered NVL. You should roleplay, given the era, that every moment could be your last.
RDM (Random Deathmatch)
This is defined as when a player kills another without previous roleplay, interactions, or sufficient initiation.
VDM (Vehicle Deathmatch)
VDM involves a player, without any prior RP, ramming their carriage/horse into another player or carriage with the intention of causing serious character injury or death.
SPORTSMANSHIP
When in a conflict-based scenario, refrain from acting disproportionately to your character and their experience. Badmannering (such as t-bagging, shooting someone’s limbs off when downed), excessive badmouthing, or badmouthing that is not period or character appropriate is not permitted.
“THE BITCH CLAUSE” / LANGUAGE
L&L takes place during the late 19th/early 20th century, and we ask that players endeavor to tailor their vocabulary to that time– and avoid overuse of modern language.
However, even period appropriate IC derogatory language is still derogatory language– and that is a violation of B.I.A.S.
One important note deals with the word “bitch”. Overuse of this term as your only insult to a woman, or repeated use of it, is not what we want to see.
METAGAMING
WHAT IS META
Metagaming is the use of out-of-character (OOC) knowledge in character. Do not act on information obtained through any means other than direct RP.
OOC COMMUNICATIONS (DMS / DISCORD)
Using discord to communicate knowledge while in the county is not allowed. Further, you may not be in a Discord call while in L&L. Being deafened and muted does not count, you must leave the call.
BLEED
IC actions and consequences that bleed into OOC harassment, or OOC communication that negatively influences RP IC is considered bleed. While it is natural that players will feel emotional over their characters, do not let this influence your OOC decision making or enjoyment of the community. It becomes difficult to differentiate one’s self from the character, which can lead to very dangerous effects. Find major differences between you and your character, decompress after each RP session, know your limits, refer to your character by name (Not “I” or “myself”), and most importantly– communicate with eachother.
STREAMSNIPING
Do not use a stream to meta information. While in county, no player should be watching a stream of another player in county.
NLR
NLR stands for “New Life Rule”
You CANNOT remember the 30 minutes leading up to being downed if you “see the light” and spawn at the hospital or are brought to an NPC doctor. This includes scenarios where a non-doctor does medical RP.
You CAN remember the 30 minutes leading up to being downed only if you are treated by a player doctor and brought up via their syringes.
“MEMORIES” / “PHOTOS”
Use of “memories”, such as clips or VODs to share information is considered meta. A screenshot cannot be used as IC information unless the character is holding or using a camera.
CHARACTER MELDING
You may not use information from an alternative character whilst playing as a different character, all of your characters must lead different lives and have NO affiliation or relation with each other. They cannot know each other, be related to one another, share resources, or interact through any means.
MASK POLICY
If an individual is masked, you cannot identify them by any means until the mask is removed. You may not identify a person in-server by ID number or voice only. Any use of an ID number for identification purposes, or recognition of voice is metagaming.
POWERGAMING
EXPLOITS
You may not use exploits to gain a personal/team advantage, if something feels like an exploit it probably is. Any exploits found should be reported to the staff team within a ticket.
F8 QUITTING
Using the F8 Quit to leave an active scenario that is still ongoing is forbidden. It is poor RP and shall not be used as an escape route for an unfavorable scenario. IC actions have IC consequences, and you must face them.
OUT OF BOUNDS
Players may not use abilities or mechanics or parkour to access areas of the map that are not intended to be accessed. This includes areas outside of the standard map as well as buildings/spaces typically inaccessible. There are ways L&L encourages players to reach out of bounds areas, and you will know them when you see them.
BREAKING ROPES
Breaking your ropes after being hogtied is not allowed. You may only break them after a player has “/me loosened them” or you have been unattended for 5 minutes.
HORSE RULES
You may not whistle for your horse if it is being stolen, nor may you dismiss it (or a wagon) during an active conflict scene. You may not use your map to meta the location of your horse during a theft.
THE “BREADCRUMB” RULE
Scenes that are part of a conflict narrative and are left in public or while the intended viewer is offline need to have breadcrumbs. Open a support ticket if you’d like to leave a /scene so staff can provide a reference number for you to add to the scene– allowing for the viewer to investigate.
A player encountering the aftermath of a serial killer, vampire, or home tp’er may want to continue investigations and scenes. This allows them to do so.
For example:
/scene a dead body is on the ground [12243]
/scene your front lawn is covered in salt [33251]
/scene another dead body is found on the ground and also your window is smashed [612]
/scene your bathroom sink is absolutely destroyed, red hair is everywhere [8991]
Once a ticket is opened staff will give you a number to add (if staff are available. Its best to reach out early!) and then ask for any evidence, clues, or details that you might have left. Leaving a conflict scene without any breadcrumb for a roleplayer to follow is considered powergaming.
MEDICAL ROLEPLAY
DEFINING YOUR INJURIES
L&L allows you to define your medical roleplay and severity of injuries as long as they are within reason.
RP’ING INJURIES / VALUING LIFE WHILE INJURED
If you are fully downed through RP via a heinous act; such as being shot, crushed by a vehicle, falling off a building, etc. You must use “/Me” to respond to doctors and law to provide adequate participation in a scene.
If your character is downed due to small injuries or bruises you are allowed to use your mic for talking, and communicating what happened within reason. A dead or seriously injured person cannot talk in real life, so you cannot talk in roleplay.
It is forbidden for a character to completely bounce back from what would realistically be an impactful injury. While it falls within the player’s discretion to determine the intensity of their own injuries, ensure that the recovery is proportional to the injury itself.
Following a life threatening injury, you are placed on a (30) minute cooldown that prevents you from participating in or initiating a scene that may lead to any strenuous activities– such as a gunfight.
“SEEING THE LIGHT”
A player who is downed in a PVE scenario may “see the light” when the timer allows them to do so, and no players are engaged in a scene with them. If they have called doctors they must wait for (5) minutes before seeing the light to ensure no doctors are enroute.
If a player has been downed in a PVP or PVPVE scenario they cannot “see the light” until the scene has not been active for (10) minutes.
PERMAS
If you perma your character, it is considered final (in most cases, and without staff approval). Perma’ing a character is typically a player’s personal decision and should be conveyed to doctors during the scene when they ask to confirm the perma. Once a perma is confirmed, you cannot revoke it at a later time (in most cases).
Once a character is perma’d, you cannot make a new character for 12-hours.
Note: Repeated NVL may result in a forced perma by the staff team.
PVP GUIDELINES
QUALITY CONFLICT
All PVP and conflict should be approached with story in mind. Conflict that is done for the sake of conflict, or repeated low quality conflict, is not what L&L wishes to see.
INSTADOWN / INSTAHOGTIE BUTTONS
These cannot be used, as there is no way to reasonably counter them. This includes pistolwhipping, tackle choking, rope tackling, and hogtying with your F. You must throw the lasso.
COMBAT / TRAVEL MAXIMUMS
PVP Combat is limited to 6v6 as a general rule of thumb.
Players cannot travel in groups larger than (6) for any reason, and must break off into multiple parties for travel.
CALLING FOR BACKUP
You cannot intentionally call for backup if it would put you over the maximum of 6v6. Further, you may not use commands of /alertlaw or /alertdoctor for (5) minutes since the conclusion of a scene– this means you should not use /alertlaw or /alertdoctor if you are in an active pvp conflict.
BECOMING INVOLVED IN A PVP SCENE
You cannot fire into a scene without rp’ing yourself into it. This requires clearly communicating your intent (and shouting) or asking what is going on. The exception would be if you are directly fired at and hit. Bullets flying “around me” do not count.
MOVING BODIES
Players may dump a body of an individual in any reasonably accessible area. Examples of inaccessible areas where players CANNOT dump a body include: Out of bounds areas / bottomless pits.
RETURNING TO A SCENE
After PVP concludes and players disperse, see the light, or receive medical treatment, players may not return to the scene of a conflict for 45 minutes.
GREENZONES
Crime cannot be initiated in a green zone. Should a crime take place outside of a green zone, you may NOT use it as a place to escape consequences. You cannot wait outside of green zones to rob or initiate hostilities with someone who is inside. If you happen to enter a green zone during an active scene, you must continue it.
A greenzone is any space that has menus or animations that require a full screen or loss of control of character; these are currently defined as:
Clothing Stores
Barber Shops
REDZONES / DEEP WOODS
Some areas of the map are considered incredibly dangerous given the local predators. Within these “deep woods”, any animal may attack you without the need for escalation RP. These areas will be clearly defined.
LOCALS ARE PEOPLE TOO
Locals are considered humans, and you should treat them just as you treat any other player walking down the street. They are subject to RDM and VDM.
DUELS
Once two individuals agree to a duel IC, they agree to a perma as a result of said duel. This will be enforced by staff. The duel’s parameters will be defined by the two parties IC, but once agreed upon (note: a player cannot be forced into a duel, they must /ooc agree to it) the outcome of the duel is set in stone upon completion.
INSTANCED/FAST TRAVEL
During an active PVP scene (including PVPVE) you may not enter an instanced area, or fast travel to avoid consequences.
HOW TO ROB / HOW TO SURVIVE A ROBBERY
NVL IN ROBBERIES (REPEATED)
When a player or players are doubly outnumbered in a PVP or robbery scenario and weapons are drawn, they must comply with the demands of the larger party. Failure to comply may be considered NVL.
STRESSFUL SCENES
Since L&L is an 18+ server, stressful or triggering scenes may be found in certain stories that players tell. It is not permitted for a player to “go inside their head” mid-scene to avoid the natural consequences of such a scene. Non-verbal participation through the “/me” and “/do” commands are, of course, permitted. Regardless, staff will still allow the scene to continue.
WHEN YOU CAN ROB
Robberies must be story-first and strive to bring an engaging scene. Robbers must target at least (3) minutes of dialogue before they issue a robbery command to a victim. This allows for a tension buildup and story to be created. If a target is unresponsive (they are in their head) you must wait a total of (5) minutes before hogtying and robbing them (this MUST be documented in a clip), and you must leave a /scene showing some form of disruption in the surrounding area.
You CANNOT rob an individual who has been downed.*
Once the robbery is complete you must /me and loosen the victims ropes before leaving. If you are the victim of a robbery and the robbers did not /me loosen your ropes, you must wait (5) minutes before breaking them yourself.
*If a victim is found to be intentionally getting themselves killed to avoid a robbery, this is considered NVL
WHAT ITEMS CAN BE TAKEN
A group of robbers may rob a player of ONE of the following combinations:
(2) Guns and no other items
(1) Gun and (2) stacks of other items (such as a stack of food or stack of bandages)
(3) Stacks of items and NO guns
These combinations may only be robbed once per group. For example, if four thieves rob Trish, they may only take one of these combinations, not one each.
Note: Regarding robbing multiple people at once, each victim may be robbed a total of ONE of the above combinations.
Tebex items will be given a tag preventing them from being removed from a players inventory unless that player /me ooc: consents to the scene and hands it over.
HORSE / CARRIAGE / STORAGE ROBBERIES
A player's horse/carriage/storage is included in the robbery limits. So if Trish is held up, the robbers cannot rob her AND her wagon of (3) stacks each.
A tied up horse or a wagon left forgotten on the road are not immune to robbery. If they are left unattended they may be robbed of one of the above robbery combinations.
ROBBERY COOLDOWN
Any player involved in robbing another cannot rob another victim for (1) hour following the conclusion of the scene.
RETURNING TO A SCENE
After committing a crime, players may not return to the scene of the crime, seek out the victim, or intentionally seek out law for interactions for (45) minutes. The only exception is with the intention of a jailbreak.
PVPVE / HOSTAGE POLICIES
STORM RULE
Crime cannot be done (30) minutes before or after a storm. This is to allow ample time for scenes to play out.
PARTICIPANT LIMITS
The following number of players and law are listed below for each tier of crime. This does not include hostages. Note that law can be listed as having a +1, which is reserved for a negotiator. This negotiator CANNOT pursue or join the chase for (20) minutes after conclusion of negotiations. They may only participate in pvp if a shootout occurs during negotiations. In the event a shootout occurs after negotiations but still within eyeline of the negotiator– that negotiator’s top priority are getting hostages to safety, and cannot join the firefight for (15) minutes.
Graverobbing: 2 v 2
Drug Farming: 6 v 6
Drug/Moonshine Sales: 2 v 2
House Robberies: 3 v 3+1
General Stores: 4 v 4+1
Banks: 6 v 6+1
Moonshine Stills: 6 v 6+1 (Law may bring subsequent waves of (6) every (20) minutes AFTER a prior wave is fully downed.)
Heist Events: 7 v 7 (Redzone rules apply.)
INSIDE V. OUTSIDE RULES
During negotiated robberies (Houses/Stores/Banks) the robbers may take (1) member from their team total and place them outside in the area of the robbery. This individual may serve as an ambusher or getaway vehicle, but they cannot begin shooting UNLESS a firefight has already been initiated.
USE OF MOVEMENT ABILITIES
You may not use any speed, jump, flight, invisibility, teleport, or shapeshifting ability for the first (15) minutes of a chase.
PVPVE COOLDOWN
Any individual who has participated in a PVPVE robbery may not engage in another robbery (including player robbery (within reason)) for (1) hour.
HOSTAGES
You are not allowed to take friends, co-workers, or gang members/associates as hostages to be used in criminal activities.
ALIGNMENT POLICIES
If approved for a supernaturally aligned character, you are being given something of a privilege on the Loom & Liar server. Abilities should not be used or abused in public places if possible - frequent abuse of this may result in IC consequences, up to permanent death of your character. Each alignment is given a grimoire to better understand their alignment and the rules that apply.
The grimoires are specific to your alignment and cannot be shared amongst other players who are not a part of your alignment to prevent metagaming and cross-over.
You may not share your grimoire (alignment or TOTM) with anyone else.
MULTIPLE CHARACTERS WITH ALIGNMENTS
After your first approved aligned character, you may have one additional supernatural character per human character that you have actively played at least 25 hours on.
FORCED PERMAS
Any player who is approved for a supernatural character agrees to a forced perma if they are discovered and a perma is approved by staff.
HUMANS AND PERMAS
Humans are largely exempt from permas, but if a human is involved with a perma of a supernatural (either by their hand or by complicit actions) they are now subject to the same perma clause that alignments are held to.
UNIQUE ALIGNMENTS / UNIQUE LORE
While we value the creativity of our community, unique or custom alignments are not allowed within L&L.
For lore, your L&L Alignment Grimoire will contain the background for how your alignment was created or born– this is considered canon. Breaking from this for a custom lore must be approved by staff.
HYBRIDS
A character may not be of two or more alignments.
SIRING
To be sired by a vampire, a werewolf, or something else– you and the player intending on siring you must be approved by staff via a general support ticket BEFORE the roleplay has begun.
WHITELISTED ABILITIES / THEMES
The following abilities are able to be learned IC, and therefore cannot be used unless by a whitelisted player approved by staff.
Necromancy / Seances / Resurrection
Psychometry / Divination
Empathy / Mind Reading / Telepathy
Memory Manipulation / Wiping / NLR Remembering / Truth Serums
Familiars
Possession/Magical Contracts
Scent Reading
Speaking in Animal Form
Siphoning (Sealing/Draining/Absorbing/Taking another alignment’s powers)
SHIFTED FORM RULES
While shifted you may not perform any action that an animal cannot reasonably do. For example, a wolf cannot shoot a gun, a cougar cannot pick a lock, and a bear cannot (or rather, should not) ride a horse. A good rule of thumb is that if it requires thumbs you cannot do it.
Any individual in a shifted form cannot speak as they lack the vocal chords (the only exception is shifting into a local form).
Individuals in shifted animal forms can not use any form of telepathic communication or “shared” / “secret” language to communicate. Because of this, shifted animals may only communicate using /mes or /dos to rp actions that could convey communication. E.G. motioning with their nose, narrowing their eyes toward something, lowering their head.
SHIFTED ANIMAL RDM
A shifted animal must follow escalation rules to avoid RDM in a pvp scenario. They must communicate their intentions for hostility via /me growls etc. The only exception will be in “Deep Woods” areas, where any shifted animal may engage in pvp without the need for prior RP.
Conversely, any animal may be shot at any time. This is not an OOC rulebreak (although it may cause contention IC if you shoot someone’s housecat), as there are no rules against hunting dangerous predatory animals.
If you are downed as a shifted animal you may not call for doctors yourself, the only exception would be if a human player calls for you. Otherwise you must wait to see the light, which includes the NLR.
ALIGNMENT IDENTITY
You cannot tell what another character’s Alignment is just by sniffing, their appearance, sensing magic, et cetera without their consent.
ALIGNMENT NLR
All alignments follow the NLR as standard precedence, but there are some that modify or alter how NLR works for them. In those cases it will be clearly defined in your grimoire.
I WANT TO PLAY AS… A GUIDE
DISCLAIMER
Regarding identity, if you have to ask if you can roleplay as someone who is XYZ– the answer is you probably shouldn’t. If you second guess yourself as to whether this is offensive, it probably is.
SOMEONE WITH A DISABILITY
You cannot roleplay as someone with a disability if you yourself do not identify as disabled.
SOMEONE FROM A POC GROUP THAT I DO NOT IDENTIFY WITH
You cannot roleplay as a POC character if you yourself do not identify as POC.
A note on hairstyles: Within L&L there will be a number of hairstyles that are reserved for our Black player base. As a rule of thumb, locs can only be worn by Black identifying characters. This is due to their cultural and historical significance. For braids, the styles we currently have are largely loose braids that are not cornrows. Because of this, anyone may wear these loose braided hairstyles.
SOMEONE WHO IS IN A NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBE
You cannot roleplay as a Native American character if you yourself do not identify as Native American.
Further, you may not found or lead a tribe unless you yourself identify as Native American/Indigenous/First Nations/or POC. However, non Native American characters may join existing tribes if invited by leadership– but please note you must do this with respect.
To apply for the founding of a tribe, please reach out to staff in a general support ticket so we can assist you.
AN ANIMAL
Within L&L we offer options for shifters, but will not allow characters who are solely just an animal.
A CORRUPT LAWMAN OR DOCTOR
General corruption at this present time is not allowed for law and doctor players. However, we define corruption as the following:
Deletion of paperwork.
Removal of evidence from evidence lockers.
Handing out law or medical equipment in excessive amounts.
Any of the actions above must be approved by staff on a case by case basis. Approval also comes with the danger of facing IC consequences– which depending on severity may lead to a life sentence or death sentence.
Additionally, any character that is in a leadership role (1st, 2nd, or 3rd in command) of a government department may not engage in any corrupt activity without explicit staff oversight.
A CRIMINAL GANG OR A SECRET SOCIETY OR A FAMILY
In L&L we use the term “Faction”. Factions could be anything from gangs, organizations, families, cults, covens, packs, sororities, etc.
We encourage you to create factions organically IC or to bring them with you as you enter L&L. Factions hold an important position within L&L. Power comes in numbers, and when there is a group of people bringing roleplay together and nurturing it in a group, it is important to remember that the quality of your output is incredibly important. Larger groups can sometimes be the first thing that someone sees when entering the server, and so Factions are expected to uphold a level of High Quality RP and are scrutinised as the shining examples of the community they should be.
Factions who continuously present Low Quality RP and are not acting in the better interests of the wider roleplaying experience (e.g., unsportsmanlike behaviour) will be deemed ineligible from Faction status.
Multiple factions working together for a collective reason should be rare, and only for major threats against the realm. Repeatedly working together with factions that should be your competition may result in loss of admin support.
Does L&L have a whitelisting system for factions? Sort of. Consistent and exemplary roleplay by a faction may earn them a whitelisted status, and this will come with a level of support from staff and access to unique features that they may not otherwise be able to have.
Faction Maximum: (12) Official Members + (2) Associates/Hangarounds
Note: Players may infiltrate factions as a member of another faction (or as a member of a government agency), but will be required to alert staff ahead of time via a ticket, as discovery of this IC may lead to dire consequences..
